definition of scale

An infinite number of squares can fit on a screen. The squares on the screen range in size from infinitely small upward in increments of size, each increment being three times the size and nine times the area of the next smaller increment ... until, at a certain point, we reach a size which cannot fit on the screen. The largest size square which can fit on the screen (or could fit on the screen) defines the scale of the view.
